Traditions
|
A.A. World Services, Inc.

Judy L.
Tamarac, FL
Dear Ms. L.:
Thank you for your recent request in which
you are seeking permission to reprint and
adapt the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions
of Alcoholics Anonymous for use in a new
fellowship known as Recovery in the
Lifestyle (“RL”).
A.A. does not object to your adaptation of
its Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions
provided that the following guidelines are
observed. First, we ask that you reprint the
Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions in their
original form, preceding the respective,
adapted versions. Secondly, we ask that you
use following disclaimer:
The Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of
Alcoholics Anonymous have been reprinted and
adapted with the permission of Alcoholics
Anonymous World Services, Inc. (“A.A.W.S.”).
Permission to reprint and adapt the Twelve
Steps and Twelve Traditions does not mean
that Alcoholics Anonymous is affiliated with
this program. A.A. is a program of recovery
from alcoholism only - use of A.A.’s Steps
and Traditions or an adapted version of its
Steps and Traditions in connection with
programs and activities which are patterned
after A.A., but which address other
problems, or use in any other non-A.A.
context, does not imply otherwise.
If, at some point you elect to translate
your adaptation of the Steps and Traditions
into a particular language, we would ask
that you notify us of your intent, in
writing, and that you use the existing A.A.
translation of the Steps and Traditions in
that language as a guide in creating your
own translation.
If you agree with the foregoing, A.A.W.S.
would have no objection to your reprinting
A.A.’s Steps and Traditions, as originally
written, and your adapting the Steps and
Traditions as you requested. I have enclosed
a copy of the original Twelve Steps and
Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous
for your use in this connection.
In Fellowship,
Darlene G. Smith
